“Alright, partner, let’s go again,” Leo said, settling into his saddle, the horse beneath him a comforting presence. The vastness of the arena always gave him a sense of peace. He'd been practicing his reining routine, each slide and spin feeling more precise than the last. His coach, a grizzled old cowboy named Hank, hollered from the sidelines, “Leo, we're gonna have you start working on barrel racing.”

Leo’s shoulders subtly shifted, but his posture was still balanced. The sun warmed the back of his neck as he responded, “Sounds good, Hank. Let’s do it.” He had a feeling about this.
